$13.00 or I will turn it in a custom sized ring for you for $6.00 more. Kerry Kester Bogert is one of THE most inventive lampworkers / jewelry designers / artists I’ve never met. I talked to her online and she’s one sweet and generous lady. She wrote an article on making rings with wire and glass for Step by Step Wire last summer [sold out 8-( - Drat!] But if you’ve ever made wire wrapped rings, you can figure this out. This is a Make Your Own Ring Kit. I’ve made a change or two to Kerry’s idea. I used sterling because, it’s a harder wire and because I find it stays clean and shiny longer. I start out with 7.5″ of 20 gauge sterling. I melt a ball on one end and add a small Bali silver finding and one of my art glass beads. I protect the bead from the heat of the flame and ball the other end. I polish the wires to make them shine. The bead may still slide off the end without the Bali silver but will slide right back on… this won’t matter once you make your ring. The purple bead is 4 mm hole to hole x 14 mm wide. Simply use a ring mandrel to make the ring to your size. $13.00 Or I will make it for you for an additional $6.00. And be sure to check out Kerry’s fabulous book!
Welp, I made SO many pink and brown mini cupcakes, I HAD to blog about it! And I turned some of the matching pairs into earrings. This is one of those sets. $17.00
This was my entry in last month’s Fire Divas May Flowers Bead Challenge. The lampwork glass beads are some of my favorites ever! I worked really hard on this piece…figuring out how to separate the beads… what should go where and what would make the beads hang right. Each of the LARGE florals took around 40 minutes EACH in the flame, layering color with clear and then shaping. It was a really time consuming set and I hope she finds a good and loving home. These will fit on a Pandora necklace if you prefer something more upscale than the hand dyed ribbon I have them strung on. $119.00
This pendant is my entry into the March Art Bead Scene contest, inspired by the Van Gogh painting of the same name. ABOUT THE BEADS: The art glass beads were handmade by me, Holly Dare of Holly’s Folly ~ Glass. The focal is made of layers of opaque and transparent teal glass for depth. The flowers are white with a bit of pink. I didn’t want the pink to overpower the piece. The Bellflower dangle is an opaque pink on stainless steel wire. ABOUT THE PENDANT: The upper part is a wired wonder! The flower petal shaped bail, the roller coaster swirl and the large hammered flower are all ONE piece of sterling wire! I carried out the flower motif with a smaller hammer wire flower dangling from the large one. The bellflower dangle completes the piece.
January’s inspiration painting for the Art Bead Scene Contest was cold, wintry scene called The Magpie by Claude Monet. I knew right away I would attempt one of those fantastic tree beads… but I wanted a cold, translucent feeling. I made the glass bead and etched it. I found some of the new colored beading wires in shades of blue and some delicate blue opals. I had always wanted to try a design that allowed some of the beads to float and move around on the beading wire. I used crimps and crimp covers to act as “stops” for the opals. A Bali silver clasp and 10mm sterling balls balance out the design. I wire wrapped the focal art bead in 18 gauge sterling with a rosette bottom. $95.00
